Gavin Rush

Gavin Rush joined the Virginia staff in January of 2024 as an assistant football strength and conditioning coach.

He comes from Wyoming where he was an assistant sports performance coach for football from 2021-2023. While at Wyoming, Rush was directly responsible for training the offensive and defensive lineman during field work and in the weight room. He was also in charge of return-to-play for all injured football athletes. He was responsible for implementing and tracking a variety of applied science testing.

Prior to assuming a full-time role, he interned for the Wyoming sports performance staff for a year.

Rush was an offensive lineman at Wyoming from 2016-2020.

The Aurora, Neb., native completed his bachelor’s degree in communication from Wyoming in 2020. He received his master’s degree in health services administration from Wyoming in 2022. Rush is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Weightlifting.

Rush is married to the former Rehn Loftus of Lincoln, Neb.
