Igdalias Mendez
Igdalias Mendez joined the UVA strength and conditioning staff in January 2023, working with the men’s and women’s tennis and squash teams.
Prior to coming to Virginia, Mendez was the assistant director of sport performance and athletic development at Sportime and the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in New York City for nearly seven years. In his time there, he developed a strength program for tennis players of different ages to improve their physical preparation and off the court and created and administered linear and multidirectional skill sessions for players aged 10-19.
Mendez also served as an adjunct professor at LIU Brooklyn from August 2014- December 2021, also working as a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Blackbirds.
Mendez earned his bachelor’s degree in sports and exercise science from Long Island University in 2006 and his master’s in that same discipline from LIU in 2009.
