Luke Horton joined the UVA athletics department in 2023 as a Virginia baseball athletic training fellow. He is responsible for assisting with the daily healthcare of UVA student-athletes, primarily baseball, including prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.

Horton is a two-time graduate from Charlotte, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine in 2020 and master’s degree in athletic training in 2023. As a graduate student, he served as a student athletic trainer for the Charlotte football program and the MLS club Charlotte FC during their first season. During his final semester as a graduate student Horton worked with the Wake Forest baseball team.

Horton is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and hold certifications in TriggerPoint myofascial release mastery and American Heart Association lifesaver CPR and first aid.

Horton grew up in Pilot Mountain, N.C., and enjoys spending time outdoors, with his family and watching sports – especially Atlanta Braves baseball.
