Sarah Stapleton joined the University of Virginia as an assistant equipment manager in September 2021. She is responsible for the ordering, issuing, and organizing of equipment for numerous UVA Olympic Sport programs.

Stapleton came to Charlottesville after serving as a fellow in the equipment department at the University of Pittsburgh. While at Pitt, she worked primarily with the track & field and swimming & diving programs, and also provided support for volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics.

Stapleton is a two-time graduate of Liberty University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management in 2019 and a master’s degree in Sport Management in 2021. While pursuing her first degree, she served as student manager for the men’s club lacrosse team from 2018 until March of 2020. In the summer of 2020, Stapleton transitioned to working for the Flames’ football team in their equipment department and accompanied the team on the program’s second bowl trip to the 2020 Cure Bowl in Orlando, Florida. During her final semester at Liberty, Stapleton completed her graduate internship in the Olympic sports equipment department, where she assisted with day-to-day equipment operations for numerous sports.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Stapleton is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Associate (AEMA) and resides in Charlottesville.
