Lydia Johnson
Lydia Johnson joined the Virginia sports medicine department in July of 2022 and works as an assistant athletic trainer with the football team. Johnson came to UVA after working six years as the associate athletic trainer at Charleston Southern, her alma mater, with the softball team.
Prior to working at Charleston Southern, Johnson served as an assistant athletic trainer for track and field at Kentucky. Johnson completed her master’s degree in athletic training in 2014 from UK, spending a total of four years in Lexington.
Johnson played as a post player for the women’s basketball team at Charleston Southern while earning her bachelor’s degree in athletic training 2012. Johnson is a member of National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Johnson enjoys exercising, outdoor activities and spending time with her family. She currently resides in Charlottesville with her rescue dogs, Charlie Grace and Cora.
