CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) – Chris Williams scored 26 points, including fourto spark a decisive run in the final six minutes, as Virginia beat Delaware72-64 Sunday.

Delaware (8-2) was leading 58-56 with 5:25 remaining when Williams hit adriving layup to start the run. He then hit a driving shot from the leftbaseline to put Virginia ahead 60-58.

The Blue Hens managed to close within one with 1:37 remaining but Virginia(8-4) hit five free throws to put the game away.

Williams was 10-of-17 from the field for the Cavaliers, who shot 54 percentin the second half and 49 percent overall. Willie Dersch had 15 points and KrisHunter had 11 rebounds and 8 points for the Cavaliers. Donald Hand added 11points.

Delaware shot just 29 percent in the first half, hitting 10-of-34 from thefield. The Blue Hens started just 0-of-13 from long range and hit just 2-of-243-pointers overall.

Mike Pegues had a career-high 35 points for Delaware, his fourth 30-pointgame this season. He was 11-of-26 from the field and hit all 11 of his freethrow attempts.

His total was the fourth-highest ever by a Virginia opponent in UniversityHall and the most in the Cavaliers’ home arena since Sam Perkins of NorthCarolina scored 36 in 1983.
