CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia returns to the court after a 10-day break and is looking to moveabove the .500 mark with a win over 24th-ranked Virginia Tech. The Hokiescome into tonight’s game after a 12-day hiatus. Virginia Tech last playedon Dec. 8 and lost to Duke 61-70 in Blacksburg.

Tonight’s game is the 29th meeting between the Hokies and Cavaliers.Virginia holds a 23-5 record in the series that dates back to the 1974season. Last year, the Hokies defeated the Cavaliers 81-65 in Blacksburg.

Tech is 2-11 in University Hall and has not won in Charlottesville sinceJan. 14, 1976 when it posted a 48-44 victory over the Cavaliers.

The Hokies are coached by third-year head coach Bonnie Henrickson who holdsa career record of 55-16. Last year, she led the Hokies to a 28-3 seasonand the Atlantic-10 Conference title and made it to the Sweet Sixteen ofthe NCAA Tournament.

Sophomore guard Sarah Hicks leads the Hokies in scoring with 14.5 pointsper game followed by junior forward Tere Williams with 12.3 ppg and juniorguard Amy Wetzel with 10.4 ppg. Williams leads the club in rebounding with9.8 rebounds per game.

Head Coach Debbie Ryan is in her 23rd season at the helm of the Cavaliersand she brings a career record of 505-178 into tonight’s game.
