CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman Schuye LaRue (Washington,D.C./Archbishop Carroll) scored 20 points to lead Virginia to a 83-42winover Siena tonight in University Hall. The Cavaliers improve to 6-4 andSiena drops to 2-7.

LaRue scored nine of her 20 points in a 15-4 run in the firstfiveminutes of the game. The game was tied at 4-4 when Seina senior BronwynTobin (Teaneck, N.J./Paramus Catholic) hit a lay-up at the 19:02 mark,butit was all Cavaliers after that. The Cavaliers forced 17 turnovers inthefirst half which resulted in 18 points. For the game, Siena committed31turnovers which the Cavaliers converted into 33 points.

Virginia sophomore Telisha Quarles (Louisa, Va./ Louisa) scored18points, one off her career high, and had six assists and eight steals.Junior Svetlana Volnaya (Minsk, Belarus) added 10 points for theCavaliers.This was Quarles fifth consecutive game in double figures.

Juniors Sacha Baker (Pawtucket, R.I./St. Raphael) and AndreaSpremullo (Bridgeport, Conn./Bridgeport) each had nine points for Siena.The Saints outrebounded Virginia 42-35, but shot only 28.3 percent fromthefield and 10.0 percent from three-point range.

The Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 29 when theyhostthe Nationwide Cavalier Classic. Radford and Syracuse begin thetournamentat 5:30 p.m. followed by the Virginia-Butler match-up. On Thursday,Dec.30, Radford meets Butler at 3:00 p.m. followed by Virginia vs. Syracuseat5:30 p.m. Game times for Thursday’s games were changed to avoid aconflictwith the Micronpc.com Bowl game which features Virginia and Illinois at7:00 p.m.
