GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia fourth-year swimmer Megan Iffland (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark’s) has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimmer of the Week after helping lead the Cavaliers to a 125.5-98.5 victory over West Virginia on Saturday, October 14. Iffland won the 100 freestyle and also swam a leg on UVa’s winning 200 medley relay team.

Iffland, who earned All-America honors as a member of four Virginia relay teams last season, got things rolling for Virginia by swimming the leadoff (backstroke) leg of the 200-yard medley relay in the first event of the meet. The Cavaliers posted a winning time of 1:47.76 with Iffland clocking a time of 26.71 in her 50-yard backstroke leg. Iffland also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.62 seconds.

The victory was the 21st consecutive dual meet win for Virginia. The streak dates back to the 1998-99 season. The Cavalier women and men return to action on Friday, October 20 when they host James Madison at 5:00 p.m. at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center.
