RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive m,atch Saturday evening (Feb. 24), defeating the University of Richmond, 5-2. The Cavaliers are now 4-1 in the spring season and 8-1 overall.

Virginia won the hotly contested doubles point by capturing two-of-three doubles matches. The Cavaliers won at No. 3 doubles, 8-1, and lost at No. 1, 8-4. The No. 2 team of Amy O’Donnell (Mahwah, N.H., Mahwah) and Christine Kim (McLean, Va./ Bishop Ireton) came through for UVa with a 9-7 victory, however, giving Virginia the all-important point.

Second-year Henriette Williams (Raleigh, N.C./ Broughton) remained undefeated in dual matches during the spring season, upending Jodi Kenoyer, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. Kelly Weaver (Kingston, N.Y./ Kingston) returned to the lineup following a one-week hiatus and won her No. 6 singles match, 6-4, 6-2.

Virginia travels to Boston, Mass. to take on Harvard on Mar. 4 in its next match.
