RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 49 University of Virginia men’s tennis team rebounded from a 5-2 loss to Duke on Saturday (April 7) and posted a 5-2 victory over North Carolina State in another Atlantic Coast Conference match on Sunday (April 8) in Raleigh, N.C. With the win Virginia moves to 10-5 overall and 3-4 in the ACC.

UVa captured the doubles point courtesy of a pair of wins at No.1 and No. 3 doubles. Virginia’s top duo of Brian Vahaly (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) and Huntley Montgomery (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) defeated the Wolpack’s Eric Jackson and Reinaldo Valor, 8-4, while the No. 3 doubles tandem of Brian Hunter (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) and Jonathan Chou (Newport News, Va./Hampton Roads) upended Ryan Boward and Matt Lucas, 8-4.

Vahaly, Montgomery and Hunter all won their singles matches, as did fourth-year Tommy Croker (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens). Those four victories gave Virginia the decisive 5-2 victory.

UVa returns to action Tuesday (April 10) against Maryland. That match will take place at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville and is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
