Charlottesville, VA–The Virginia women’s team had a great showing at theLou Onesty Invitational, where they won nine events, and the men’s teamsaw a record fall as Bill Johnston (Warwick, RI/Bishop Hendricken) threwthe hammer 58.20m, breaking his own record by 32 cm. Winners includedKimberlee Turko (Edison, NJ/John P. Stevens) in the 100m High Hurdles(14.22), Carielle Doe (Reston, VA/South Lakes) in the 200m (24.29) and the4x100m relay team (47.32). Megan Schwartz (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) wonthe 800m with a season best time of 2:12.44.

In the field events, Inge Jorgenson (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington)threw her season best in the javelin with a 50.36. Jorgensen is currentlyranked sixth in the nation. Caroline Harvey (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) hadthe best long jump this season with a 5.81, which earned her first place.Vika Osipenko (Mechanicsville, VA/ Atlee) won the pole vault (3.51m), herbest leap this season. Naccole Guinn’s (Alexandria, VA/Thomas Jefferson)jump of 12.47 was the best this season and earned first place. ElieseMitchell (Narvon, PA, Garden Spot) was a double winner, taking the honorsin the hammer (55.41m) and the discus (48.28m).

The men’s team was also successful with two men taking individualtitles. Brian Kollar (Virginia Beach, VA/First Colonial) took the gold inthe javelin, which is his fourth win this season. He is currently rankedsecond in the nation. Teammate John Welch (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St.Clair) was runner up with his NCAA provisional throw of 67.40m. Welch iscurrently 12th in the nation. Tim Bilmanis (Hughesville, Md./Thomas Stone)also won his event, taking top honors in the discus with a throw of 51.30m.

Jarrett Hagwood (Martinsville, VA/Laurel) was the runner up in the110m high hurdles (14.65) and the long jump (7.03m). Raphael Delgado(Centreville, VA/Centreville) ran a season best in the 400m with a 47.83,which placed second in the meet.
