Virginia?s Jennifer Owens won her first cross country meet of the year as she led the Cavaliers to a first-place finish in the William & Mary Invitational today in Williamsburg. The Cavaliers, who also had top-ten finishes from Sarah Folse, Jolene Hampson, Meg Schwartz and Dawn Cleary, took first with 30 points, beating second-place James Madison by 35 points. Jane Maxwell and Meg McGarvey finished just behind Cleary, coming in 11th and 12th as the Cavaliers put together a pack of four runners in a six-second span.

The men?s team split the squad this afternoon as some Hoos ran an 8K and the rest of the squad ran a 6K. In the 8K race, James Catano led the Cavaliers with a sixth place finish, while Dave Vitto finished just outside the top-10 with an 11th place finish. In the 6K, Matt Ruhl just outtouched teammate Walton Kingsberry, breaking the tape just .3 seconds in front of him. Andy Filachek also finished in the top ten for the Cavaliers.
