WASHINGTON, DC – The UVa men’s tennis team quicly recovered from its loss to William & Mary in its previous match, as they travelled north and defeated the George Washington Colonials, 6-1, at George Washington’s Mt. Vernon Tennis Facility. The Cavaliers improve to 4-1 on the season, 1-1 in spring season.

Jason Romesburg improved to 8-4 on the season, defeating Brett Warner at No. 4 singles, 4-6, 7-6 (5) and teamed with Jonathan Chou at No. 2 doubles, as they picked up their second consecutive win in doubles for the spring. Jay Curtis and Michael Duquette also picked up victories in singles, the seventh victory for both men in singles competition this sprng. Duquette teamed with Stephen Nolen at No. 1 doubles, to defeat George Washington’s Matt Hane and Jake Jopling, at No. 1 doubles, 8-3. Duquette and Nolen improve to 6-4 in doubles this season as the team’s top duo. Curtis also picked up a win in doubles alongside Dillon Walker, at No. 3, defeating the team of Mike Melen and Chris Mouton, 8-5. It marked Walker’s second victory in doubles this season.

Gregory Alpert picked up his fourth singles win of the season at No. 5, defeating Melen, 6-0, 6-4.

The Cavaliers return to action on Feb. 23, when they host Navy at the Boar’s Head Inn Tennis Center, at 6 p.m.
