CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Anna Crosswhite, sophomore Jocelyn Logan-Friend, and junior Anna Prillaman have been elected team captains by their teammates, head coach Debbie Ryan announced on Friday.

Crosswhite, a 6-1 forward from Castlecrag, Australia, is a team captain for the second straight year. Named the team’s Best Defensive Player last season, she was an Academic All-ACC honoree. Crosswhite saw action in all 30 games with 26 starts and finished fourth in team scoring with 7.0 ppg. She also led the ACC in charges taken with 63.

Logan-Friend, a 6-1 forward from Cheverly, Md., saw action in all 30 contests with four starts last season as a true freshman. She recorded a career-best four blocks against Florida International and at Georgia Tech. Logan-Friend also scored a career-high 10 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in the win over Liberty.

Prillaman, a 5-10 guard from Midlothian, Va., played in all 30 contests with 24 starts. UVa’s top three-point shooter with 57 buckets from long range (.456), she ranked No. 5 nationally in three-point shooting. Prillaman finished third in team scoring with 9.1 ppg. She also set the school record for treys twice with a career-high six treys.

Fans can get a sneak peak at this year’s squad with two exhibition games. UVa’s first exhibition is slated for Thursday, Nov. 7, while the second contest is set for Thursday, Nov. 14. Both games tip at 7:30 p.m. at University Hall.

Virginia, which finished last season at 17-13 with a 19th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, opens the 2002-03 season on Friday, Nov. 22 at Old Dominion. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
