Following their season opener in Charlottesville, the Virginia Cross Country team will compete this Friday, September 27 in Charlotte, NC. The Cavalier women’s team is ranked #26 and is coming off a third-place overall finish at the Lou Onesty Invitational. The Great American Cross Country Festival will take place at the Ballantyne Resort which is located in the foothills in the southern Piedmont. The men’s race is scheduled to begin at 6:35pm while the women’s is set for 7:05pm.

Ten other ranked teams will compete in the women’s race including top-ranked Brigham Young, #2 Georgetown, #6 NC State, #7 Arkansas, #8 Duke, #10 Northern Arizona, #13 William and Mary, #20 Colorado State, #23 Columbia, and #30 Coastal Carolina. On the men’s side, there are three teams from the top ten competing—Northern Arizona (#5), NC State (#7), and Georgetown (#8). The other ranked men’s teams include Colorado State at #17, Duke at #18, and Butler at #25.

Three other teams from the Commonwealth of Virginia will compete including James Madison, Virginia Commonwealth, and Richmond. ACC teams in attendance are Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and UNC. Joining the field are Appalachian State, Baylor, Brown, Bucknell, Charlotte, High Point, Loyola, Florida, Florida International, La Salle, South Florida, Miami, Western Carolina, Iowa, and Mississippi State.
