Virginia Wrestling Prepares For #8 Nebraska, #18 Northern Iowa, Wyoming and Stanford in the 2003 Lone Star Duals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia wrestling team will jump into dual match action for the first time this season by competing in the 2003 Lone Star Duals on Saturday, January 4th at the South Grand Prairie High School in Dallas, Texas. Some of the top teams in college wrestling will be competing in the prestigious event. Virginia will face the #8 Nebraska Cornhuskers, the #18 Northern Iowa Panthers, the Wyoming Cowboys and the Stanford Cardinal in the competition.
UVa will wrestle back-to-back ranked opponents in its first two dual matches of the competition when Virginia faces #8 Nebraska at 8:00 AM in Session I before meeting #18 Northern Iowa at 10:00 AM in Session II. In the afternoon/evening sessions, UVa will face Wyoming at 4:00 PM before meeting Stanford at 6:00 PM in the Cavaliers’ final dual match of the event.
Virginia is one of 19 schools scheduled to compete in the 2003 Lone Star Duals. The Cavaliers will face off against two of the five ranked teams in the Top 25 that will be competing in the event. Other schools that will be joining UVa in the field of teams are: Brown, Cal-State Fullerton, Cal Poly, Central Oklahoma, #17 Cornell, Eastern Michigan, Harvard, #12 Missouri, Missouri Baptist, Navy, #8 Nebraska, Neosho CC, #18 Northern Iowa, Northwestern, #4 Oklahoma, Stanford, Wartburg and Wyoming.
