The University of Virginia indoor track team had three athletes to the finals of competition in the 60m dash and the 60m hurdles at the Kroger Invita tional held at Virginia Tech today. All-American Kiamesha Otey qualified for the 60m dash finals, as did teammate Scott Kimball. Gemayel Hazard also advanced to the finals tomorrow, running an 8.27 in the 60m hurdles. The Cavaliers also had a pair of medalists in the women’s pole vault as Vika Osipenko and Virginia Uhrin tied for third with a leap of 3.40m.

Other top-eight finishers for the Cavalier s included Eliese Mitchell, who finished 6th in the weight throw (17.03m), Sh annon Hawrylo, who took 7th in the 800m (2:56.87), and Curtrell Frye, who finished 7th in the triple jump with a leap of 12.32m.

The men’s team had a pair of fifth-place finishes as McGavock Dunbar took 5th in the 1000m run (2:29.35) and Zach Davis finished 5th in the 600m run with a time of 1:21.47.

The Kroger Invitational finishes tomorrow, Saturday, Jan 18 at Virginia Tech.
