LANDOVER, MD – The University of Virginia women’s track team won four events today, led by Kiamesha Otey who won the long jump in an NCAA provisional mark of 6.20m (20′ 4″). Other champions for the Cavaliers included Eliese Mitchell, who took the weight throw with a throw of 18.45m (60′ 6.5″), Cutrell Frye in the triple jump (12.43m, 40′ 9.5″), and Sharon O’Connor in the mile (4:59.77). Mitchell also took second in the shot put with a toss of 14.97m (49′ 1.5″), which is a personal best toss by more than a foot.

Otey’s mark places her on the consideration list for the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. on March 14-15. She also placed third in the 60m dash in a time of 7.55. Vika Osipenko was the runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 3.50m (11′ 5.75″). Shannon Hawrylo took fourth in the mile in a time of 5:08.96.
