CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The nationally-ranked University of Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams conclude the dual meet portion of their seasons Saturday (February 8) by hosting Atlantic Coast Conference rival Maryland at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. The swimming portion of the meet will begin at 1:00 p.m. with one-meter diving commencing at 11:45 a.m. The three-meter diving competition will be held Friday evening (February 7) at 6:30 p.m. An 11-dive format will be used for the three-meter competition.

The meet marks the final dual meet for 13 Cavalier swimmers and divers. The five UVa women competing in their final dual meet are: All-American Mirjana Bosevska (Skopje, Macedonia/Trinity Prep), All-American Lindsey Crane (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), All-American Cara Lane (Charlotte, N.C./Providence), Courtney Massaro (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant School), and Alison Sharp (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock). The eight Virginia men swimming in their final dual meet are: Jonathan Baird (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy), Brian Best (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake), All-American Dan DeMarco (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South), Joe Shrum (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville), Tommy Whanger (Newport News, Va./Menchville), Michael Wheeler (Lisbon, Md./McDonogh), Guy Yimsomruay (Bangkok, Thailand/Germantown Academy), and Dan Zurowski (Woodbridge, Va./Bishop Ireton).

The Cavalier men are ranked ninth in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll and enter their final dual meet with a 7-1 overall record and 4-0 mark in the ACC. Maryland is 4-6 overall and 1-4 in the conference. UVa has won its last 18 ACC dual meets.

The women’s meet features a pair of top 15 teams. Virginia is ranked 13th in the CSCAA Poll, while the Terrapins are 15th. UVa is 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. Maryland enters the meet with a 10-1 record overall and is 4-1 in the ACC. Both teams’ only loss this season is to 13th-ranked North Carolina.
