Virginia’s Kiamesha Otey was a double-winner in today’s Tech Challenge held in Blacksburg today as she won the 60m dash in 7.47 and won the long jump with a leap of 6.21m. Teammate Caroline Harvey also placed in the dash,taking 7th in 7.68. Other medallists for the Cavaliers included Ellen Dwyer, who took third in the mile (4:51.44) and Sharon O’Connor and Shannon Hawrylo, who took second and third respectively in the 800m run. Eliese Mitchell took second in the shot put a day after taking second in the weight throw, and Dawn Cleary (3000m run) and Rachel Marks (high jump) both took fourth place as well. Melanie Matthews also placed in the mile, taking 5th (5:03.27).

On the men’s side, Zach Davis finished 4th in the 800m run, finishing in a time of 1:54.92.

The Cavaliers prepare for the ACC Indoor Championships, which take place this coming weekend (Feb 21-22) in Chapel Hill, NC.
