CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia baseball team has announced a change to its 2003 schedule for the Cavaliers’ three-game weekend series against the Seton Hall Pirates on February 28 – March 2. Virginia was originally scheduled to face Seton Hall on Friday, February 28th at 3:00 PM; Saturday, March 1st at 1:00 PM and Sunday, March 2nd at 1:00 PM. Currently, the contest originally scheduled for Friday, February 28th at 3:00 PM has been postponed and has been temporarily rescheduled as part of a tentative doubleheader for this weekend, most likely on Saturday, March 1st at a time to be determined. A single game in the series may also follow, most likely on Sunday, March 2nd as originally scheduled.

A final decision on the series will be made by UVa officials on Friday morning as to whether or not Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium will have a playing surface suitable to host any games of the Virginia/Seton Hall series at all. Currently, the playing surface at the UVa Baseball Field is covered with a fresh snowfall and more snow accumulation is expected to occur in the next two days in the Charlottesville area. UVa officials will determined on Friday if the chance exists for games to be played at all on Saturday or Sunday. If not, the series would most likely be cancelled all together.

Please check the official University of Virginia athletic website (www.virginiasports.com) on Friday morning/afternoon concerning any possible changes to the newly rescheduled series.
