Virginia’s Kiamesha Otey qualified for the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, California with her fourth-place finish in the long jump at the NCAA East Regional. Otey’s leap of 6.23m (20′ 5.25″) was a season-best. Otey also advanced to the 200m finals to be run on Saturday, May 31 after she sprinted to a season-best 23.46 in the preliminaries.

Distance teammates Sarah Folse and Jane Maxwell both ran season-best times today, improving their previous best season times by over twenty seconds as Folse ran a team-best 16:27.01 and Maxwell ran 16:28.08. Carielle Doe also hit a 2003 best time with her 53.22 in the 400m dash as she just missed qualifying for the finals, ranking 9th after the preliminary rounds. Natalie Randolph also just missed advancing with a 59.79 time in the 400m intermediate hurdles.

The Cavaliers continue competition at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday, May 31.
