CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Virginia women’s tennis team concluded the second day of play at the Midwest Blast Saturday at the University of Illinois. The Cavaliers played the host Illini in singles and Miami in doubles.

In singles, Virginia took five of the seven matches from Illinois. Lauren Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) defeated Cynthya Goulet in three sets, as did sisters Dora and Marta Bechliwanis (Etobicoke, Ont.) over Brianna Knue and Emily Wang respectively. First-year Caroline Hammond (Williamsburg, Va.) downed Leila Cehajic in straight sets after Shannon Stough had beaten Cehajic earlier in the day.

In doubles, the Hurricanes of Miami took all three doubles matches from the Cavaliers.

Virginia concludes play at the Midwest Blast on Sunday, as they play Miami in singles and Notre Dame in doubles.
