CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia Athletics Ticket Office has announced expanded hours for the remainder of this week in response to the interest in tickets for the 2003 Continental Tire Bowl.

The ticket office will open at 8:30 a.m. and remain open until 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday (Dec. 3-5). The office will also be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 6) and 1-4 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 7).

Virginia plays the University of Pittsburgh from the Big East Conference in the Continental Tire Bowl at Ericsson Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 27. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The Cavaliers defeated West Virginia 48-22 in last year’s inaugural Continental Tire Bowl game.

The UVa Athletics Ticket Office had processed 12,279 tickets for the bowl through Tuesday (Dec. 2). That’s almost 2,000 more tickets than were processed at a similar time last year.

Virginia fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office to ensure that UVa gets credit for all tickets sold. The ticket office telephone numbers are 800/542-8821 or 434/924-8821. The range of ticket prices begins at $27.50.

Seat assignments will begin at the conclusion of the Dec. 5 sale day. Orders will be accepted as long as tickets remain.

For UVa students, a special in-person sale starts Thursday (Dec. 4) at 8:30 a.m. at the ticket office in Bryant Hall, located in the south end of Scott Stadium. Student tickets cost $52.50 and a valid UVa student I.D. is required at the time of purchase. Students wishing to be seated together should purchase their tickets at the same time due to reserved seating.
