CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team will host in-state rival Virginia Tech Wednesday (March 24) in a doubleheader at The Park beginning at 2:00 p.m. Admission to the doubleheader is free of charge.

The Cavaliers, who stand at 18-15 on the season, have won five consecutive games and were victorious in their home season-opening Cavalier Classic this past weekend. UVa went 5-1 in the tournament and won the championship game 7-4 in eight innings over Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights handed Virginia its only loss of the tournament, a 4-0 setback in the Cavaliers’ first game of the tourney.

The all-time series dates back to 1998 with the Hokies holding a 7-6 edge. Virginia Tech won two of the three meetings last season. Virginia Tech stands at 23-9 in 2004 and has won eight of its last nine games.
