CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia senior guard Elton Brown (Hampton, Va.) and junior tight end Heath Miller (Swords Creek, Va.) have been named to the 2004 Playboy All-America Football Team.

The complete team will be unveiled in the October issue of the magazine.

An Outland Trophy candidate, Brown received the Jacobs Blocking Trophy last season as the ACC’s top blocker. He also earned second-team All-ACC accolades last fall. The three-year starter helped the UVa offense lead the ACC in fewest sacks allowed (12), the fewest sacks since the 1987 (9) season. Brown received ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors following his play in the shutout win over Duke. He received the Colonel Frank C. McCue Award as UVa’s outstanding interior lineman.

The leading candidate for the Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end, Miller was a first-team All-ACC honoree last season. He led the nation’s tight ends with 70 receptions and 835 yards, rewriting the UVa and ACC single-season records for a tight end. Miller also holds the career record with 15 touchdowns by a tight end. Named the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week three times, the two-year starter received the team’s John Polzer Award for ability, sportsmanship, and character. Miller is a candidate for the 2004 Rotary Lombardi Award which honors the nation’s finest lineman.

Miller and Brown are Virginia’s first Playboy All-America honorees since former defensive back Anthony Poindexter (1995-98) was a two-time honoree in 1997 and 1998.

Virginia kicks off the 2004 season on Saturday, Sept. 4 at Temple in Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.
