CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 2003-04 Virginia Women’s Basketball media guide was honored with an “Excellence in Publication Design” Award by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) during the association’s annual convention on June 26-July 1.

The Virginia guide was written and designed by Cathy Bongiovi-Stewart and edited by Craig Hornberger. The publication placed fourth in District 3, which is comprised of schools from Virginia, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Stewart begins her fourth season as assistant director of athletic media relations at Virginia. She serves as the media contact for the women’s basketball team and oversees gameday media operations. In addition, she works with the UVa football and golf teams. Stewart has earned 13 citations from CoSIDA for excellence in publication design. Stewart is a 1987 graduate of Penn State University.

Hornberger enters his 17th year as director of sports publications. Among his responsibilities, he oversees the scheduling and computer desktop production of UVa’s 19 varsity sport media guides. In 1999, he collaborated with the UVa Development Office in the production of First and Goal, a publication about the school’s football stadium expansion project, which received an Award of Excellence from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Hornberger is a 1982 graduate of Lycoming College.

The Virginia women’s basketball team opens the 2004-05 season on Nov. 10-11 at the Women’s Sports Foundation Classic in Baton Rouge, La.
