CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Two members of the Virginia men’s tennis team won matches in the final round of qualifying Wednesday, and advanced to the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships at the Champions Club in Chattanooga.

Rylan Rizza (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.), ranked No. 75 nationally, rallied to defeat No. 83 ranked Drew Hoskins of USC, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6. First-year Somdev Devvarman (Tamil Nadu, India) advanced with a 6-0, 6-2 win over No. 102 Nestor Briceno of Florida. Fellow first-year Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) had to retire due to injury in his final round qualifying match against Brett Ross of Wake Forest.

Rizza and Devvarman join Doug Stewart (Malibu, Calif.) in the singles main draw. Stewart is the No. 5 seed in the main draw, which features 46 of the top 50 players in the nation in the 64-player field. In the doubles main draw, the doubles team of Rizza and Nick Meythaler (Owensboro, Ky.) is a No. 5 seed in the 32-team draw.

First round play of the main draw begins on Thursday.
