Virginia Stands 12th at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Virginia women’s golf team stands tied for 12th after second round action at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate at the Cherokee Country Club on Saturday.

Ohio State leads the field of 17 teams with a 580 (+12). Tulane is second with a 589 (+21), while Kent State is third with a 598 (+30). The Cavaliers shot a 307 (+23) on the day for a 618 to tie with Kentucky.

Tennessee’ Violeta Retamoza leads the field with a two-under 140. Ohio State’s Lindsay Knowlton and Tulane’s Alison Walshe follow by one stroke with a one-under 141.

Sophomore Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.) paces the Cavaliers with a 150 (+8) to tie for 24th. Sophomore Sally Shonk (Noblesville, Ind.) stands tied for 48th with a 155 (+13), while freshman Lauren Mielbrecht (Gulf Stream, Va.) follows with a 157 (+15). Sophomore Rachel Smith (Powell, Tenn.) shot a 161, while sophomore Lindsay Robinson (Huntington, W.V.) shot a 162.

Play concludes at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate on Sunday, Oct. 10.
