PRINCETON, N.J. – University of Virginia boats finished third in both the women’s open eight and the women’s open four races at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie on Sunday (Nov. 7).

Princeton’s “A” boat won the open eight race with a time of 16:01.31 followed by Yale “A” (16:19.42), Virginia “A” (16:36.67), Michigan State “A” (16:42.72) and Princeton “B” (16:50.07). UVa’s “B” boat finished 10th (17:01.96), the Cavaliers’ “C” boat was 22nd (17:45.81) and Virginia’s “D” boat finished 35th (18:22.52). There were 45 boats in the competition.

Princeton’s “A” boat won the open four competition with a time of 17:09.36 followed by Syracuse “A” (17:35.77), Virginia “B” (17:49.18), Virginia “C” 17:54.12) and Princeton “B” (17:59.94). UVa’s “A” boat finished sixth (18:00.17), Virginia “D” finished 15th (18:25.31) and the Cavaliers’ “E” boat was 26th (18:43.06). There were 51 boats in the competition.

The Virginia women’s rowing team completes the fall portion of its 2004-05 schedule on Sunday (Nov. 14) when it hosts the Rivanna Romp regatta at the Rivanna Reservoir. The competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
