GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia freshman Sean Singletary is the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball Co-Rookie of the Week for his play in Virginia’s victories over Northwestern and Auburn last week. Singletary shared the honor with Cliff Hammonds of Clemson. It is the second time this season Singletary has earned the conference honor.

The 6-0 point guard from Philadelphia, Pa., scored 33 points and had 10 rebounds in the two games. He shot 50 percent (12-24) from the field, had four assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

In Virginia’s 48-44 victory at Northwestern (Dec. 1) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Singletary scored eight points, had three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 31 minutes of action. He scored all eight of his points in the second half.

In the Cavaliers’ 89-87 win over Auburn (Dec. 3) at the Siegel Center in Richmond, Va., Singletary scored a team-high 25 points and had seven rebounds. He also had two assists, two blocked shots and one steal in 30 minutes of playing time. Singletary scored 15 of his 25 points in the second half. He made two free throws with 7:14 remaining in the game to give UVa the lead for good (71-69) and then made a three-point basket to extend the lead to 74-70 with 6:21 left to play.

Duke’s J.J. Redick was named the ACC men’s basketball Player of the Week.
