Virginia Baseball Ranked 27th In Collegiate Baseball's Top-40 Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia baseball team was ranked 27th in the country in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s 2005 NCAA Division I Preseason Top-40 Poll. UVa was one of six schools from the Atlantic Coast conference to appear in the poll and was the only school from the Commonwealth of Virginia ranked in the Top-40 spots.
UVa returns a solid core of its position players and pitchers from last year’s team that finished 44-15 overall, 18-6 in the ACC in 2004. Last season, Virginia was ranked as high as #7 in the country by Collegiate Baseball – which was the highest baseball ranking in school-history at UVa. The Cavaliers eventually finished the 2004 season ranked #20th in the final Collegiate Baseball poll following the Cavaliers’ appearance in the 2004 NCAA Regionals.
