RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 53 ranked Virginia women’s tennis team suffered their third 4-3 loss in as many weeks, falling to No. 61 VCU Sunday afternoon in Richmond. The loss drops the Cavaliers’ record to 3-5 on the season.

Virginia took an early lead by winning the doubles point. The team of Kristen James (Clifton, Va.) and Lori Stern (Ojai, Calif.) won at No. 2 doubles and Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas) and Rachel DelPriore (Williamsville, N.Y.) won at No. 3 doubles for the Cavaliers.

In singles, the Cavaliers got a win at No. 1 singles, where No. 52 ranked Srebrovic remained perfect on the season in dual match play with a 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 66 Marianna Yuferova. Marta Bechliwanis (Etobicoke, Ont.) had the other Virginia singles win, a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Vera Petrashevitch at No. 5 singles. The Rams won the other four matches, three of them 6-4 in the third set, to record the win.

The Cavaliers will return to action on March 7 as they visit UC-Santa Barbara.
