GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Virginia women’s golf team stands 16th after the second round of competition at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational on Saturday.

Wake Forest continues to lead the field of 18 with a 591 (+31), while Auburn follows by six strokes with a 597 (+37). Ohio State is third with a 600 (+40). The Cavaliers shot a 316 (+36) in the second round for a 633 (+73) total.

Wake Forests’ Christine Hallstrom and Purdue’s Myrte Eikenaar are tied for first with a 145 (+5) each. Wake’s Ashley Hoagland and Ohio State’s Kristen White follow by one stroke to tie for third with a 146 (+6) each.

Sophomore Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.) moved up to a tie for 13th with a 150 (+10) after firing a 74 on the day. Freshman Lauren Mielbrecht (Gulf Stream, Va.) shot a 160 (+20), while sophomore Rachel Smith (Powell, Tenn.) followed by a stroke with a 161 (+21). Sophomore Lindsay Robinson (Huntington, W.V.) shot 162 (+22), and sophomore Sally Shonk (Noblesville, Ind.) rounded out the Cavaliers’ scoring with a 169 (+29).

Play at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational concludes on Sunday, March 6 at the par 70 University Golf Course.
