Men's Golf Finishes Fifth at Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Virginia men’s golf finished fifth of 12 teams at the Seminole Intercollegiate on late Tuesday. The Cavaliers fired a 293 in the final round for a 885 (+21) 54-hole total.
Coastal Carolina captured the team title after carding a 866 (+2). Vanderbilt was second with a 878 (+14), while Central Florida finished third with a 881 (+17). North Carolina finished a stroke ahead of UVa with a 884 (+20).
East Tennessee States’ Ryhs Davies captured medalist honors with an nine-under 207 after firing a one-under 71 in the final round. Charleston’s Moises Cobo took second with a three-under 213, while North Carolina’s Martin Ureta and Charleston’s Lindsay Renolds tied for third with a two-under 214 each.
Senior Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) tied for ninth with a 217 (+1). Junior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) tied for 18th with a 221 (+5). Junior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) and sophomore Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) tied for 39th with a 227 (+11) each. Sophomore Mark Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with a 230 (+14). Playing as an individual, sophomore Dan Gabel (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished with a 239 (+23).
Virginia will participate in the Birkdale Collegiate Golf Classic in Charlotte, N.C., on March 12-13.
