Men's Tennis Match at Florida State Suspended Due to Rain

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The second ranked Virginia men’s tennis team had its match at No. 28 Florida State Wednesday suspended by rain. The match, originally scheduled for 4:00 p.m., didn’t start until 9:00 p.m. due to the rain. Then, midway through doubles play the rain came again and halted play.
There is no make up date scheduled.
When the match was suspended, the Cavaliers were up a break in two of the doubles matches and on serve in the other. At No. 1 doubles, Rylan Rizza (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) and Nick Meythaler (Owensboro, Ky.) led Jeff Groslimond and Chris Westerhof 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Treat Huey (Alexandia, Va.) and Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) were serving at 5-4 in their match with Mat Cloer and Ytai Abougzir. Darrin Cohen (Lafayette, Calif.) and Doug Stewart (Malibu, Calif.) were leading 6-5, on serve, against Jonathas Sucupira and Sam Chang at No. 3 doubles.
The Cavaliers (13-2) return to action on Sunday as they host Georgia Tech. Match time at the Snyder Tennis Center is noon.
