CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team opens the home portion of its Atlantic Coast Conference slate by hosting Georgia Tech in a three-game series this weekend at The Park. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader beginning at noon Saturday (April 2). The series will conclude with a single game at noon on Sunday (April 3).

The Cavaliers enter the series with a 13-18 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the ACC. UVa opened conference play by winning two of three games against NC State last weekend in Raleigh. In its last action, Virginia split a pair of 1-0 games against in-state rival James Madison on Wednesday (March 30). After falling in the first game of the doubleheader, the Cavaliers bounced back with a 1-0 victory in the nightcap.

The Yellow Jackets are currently 33-8 overall and 5-1 in the ACC. Georgia Tech is ranked 19th in the USAToday/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll and are 21st in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll. In its last action, Georgia Tech split a doubleheader at Chattanooga Wednesday (March 30). The Jackets lost the first game 1-0 and rebounded with a 7-1 win in the second game.

The Cavaliers lead the all-time series against Georgia Tech 29-13. Last season, the two teams split a pair of 2-0 decisions in ACC play in Atlanta on April 10, but Georgia Tech took a 4-1 decision in the ACC Tournament on May 15.
