Virginia Finishes 13th at Morris Williams Intercollegiate

AUSTIN, Texas – The Virginia men’s golf team finished 13th at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Sixth-ranked Florida captured the team title from the field of 15 team with a 872 (+8), while No. 1 Oklahoma State claimed second place with a 882 (+18). Tulsa took third with a 886 (+22), while host Texas was fourth with a 890 (+26). The Cavaliers shot a 306 in the final round for a 926 (+62) total.
Florida’s Richard Treis was the only player to finish under par, claiming medalist honors with a four-under 212. Texas’ Shaun Goodwin was second with a 217 (+1), while Tulsa’s Sam Korbe and Oklahoma State’s Zack Robinson tied for third with a 218 (+2) each.
Sophomore Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) paced Virginia with a 224 (+8) to tie for 19th. Junior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) tied for 37th with a 228 (+12), while junior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) followed with a 236 (+20). Sophomore Mark Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) carded a 242 (+26), and senior Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) rounded out the UVa scoring with a 246 (+30).
Virginia travels to the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate on April 8-9 in Holly Springs, N.C.
