CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team faces Clemson, Duke, Miami, and North Carolina in the sixth annual Atlantic Coast Conference championship regatta on Saturday (April 23). Clemson University hosts the competition on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C., beginning at 9:00 a.m. Admission to the event is free.

The regatta schedule is as follows:9:00 a.m.: Varsity Four;9:20 a.m.: Novice Eight;9:40 a.m.: Second Varsity Eight;10:00 a.m.: Varsity Eight.

Virginia’s varsity eight enters the regatta ranked 10th in the country in the USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll. UVa is currently the only nationally-ranked varsity eight in the ACC.

The Cavaliers have won each of the five previous ACC regattas. Virginia’s first varsity eight, second varsity eight, and novice eight boats are undefeated in the history of the regatta. UVa rowers won every event last year and Virginia head coach Kevin Sauer was honored as the 2004 ACC Coach of the Year.
