Virginia women’s lacrosse player Amy Appelt, the 2004 Tewaaraton Trophy recipient, was named one of the five finalists for the 2005 award.

Appelt is one of the most dominant players in her sport today. She graduated from UVa with the all-time collegiate lacrosse record 66-game goal-scoring streak, and she scored a goal in 83 of her 85 games played at Virginia. Appelt ranks fifth all-time in collegiate lacrosse history in Division I in scoring with an astounding 373 career points, and she ranks sixth all-time in goals with 258 and ninth in assists with 115. In 2005, Appelt had a career-high 38 assists, which ranks third all-time for a single season at Virginia, and she chipped in 57 goals, which also ranks in the top-10 for a single season. Her 95 points ranks fifth all-time for a single season in Virginia history. Appelt is also the 2005 Attack Player of the Year by womenslacrosse.com, and she earned first-team All-American honors from insidelacrosse.com, womenslacrosse.com and the IWLCA/US Lacrosse.

A member of the 2005 World Cup Training Squad, Appelt was one of only two undergraduates to play for the USA in their test match series against Canada in 2004.
