CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia baseball player Sean Doolittle (Tabernacle, N.J./Shawnee) and Team USA Baseball put the finishing touches on a successful 2005 campaign after the Red, White and Blue turned in a record of 16-4 – capped off by an 11-game winning streak to end the 2005 season. Doolittle, a rising second-year first baseman/left-handed pitcher for UVa, finished second on Team USA with a .347 batting average (17-for-49). Doolittle started 13 of the 19 games he appeared in and posted 17 hits (including five doubles), 11 runs and nine RBI. He also made two appearances on the mound and recorded three strikeouts in 2.0 innings of work.

Team USA finished its season strong by winning its final 11 games. After falling 9-7 to Chinese Taipei in Taipei, Taiwan on July 16th, Team USA won 11 consecutive games from July 22 through August 3rd over Italy and Nicaragua to end the season with an .800 winning percentage. Team USA went 6-0 vs. Nicaragua (1.000), 5-0 vs. Italy (1.000), 1-1 vs. Chinese Taipei (.500) and 1-3 vs. Japan (.250). Team USA also defeated the Torrington Twisters, Keene Swamp Bats and the Newport Gulls in a single contest against each opponent.
