CHARLOTTESVILLE – Guards J.R. Reynolds and Sean Singletary are co-captains of the 2005-06 University of Virginia men’s basketball team.

Reynolds, a junior from Roanoke, Va., averaged 10.7 points and a team-leading 32.3 minutes played a game last season. He started 27 of 29 games during the 2004-05 season and has started 45 of the 58 games he’s played in during his first two years in the Virginia program.

Reynolds was a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament selection last season after scoring 43 points in Virginia’s two games in the tournament. He scored a career-high 32 points in the Cavaliers’ first-round victory over the University of Miami. Reynolds was named to the ACC’s All-Freshmen team in 2004 after averaging 9.4 points and 2.0 assists a game during his first year in the Virginia program.

Singletary, a sophomore from Philadelphia, Pa., was named to the All-ACC Freshmen team last season after averaging 10.5 points, 3.9 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 29.9 minutes played a game. He ranked sixth in the ACC in assist/turnover ratio (1.61), and ninth in assists (3.9 apg.) and steals (1.66 spg.). He led the Virginia team in assists and steals.

Singletary ranked first among ACC freshmen in assists and steals, second in minutes played and third in scoring last season. He earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors five times and finished second in the ACC Rookie of the Year balloting.

The Virginia men’s basketball team plays an exhibition game against Concordia University (Montreal) on Friday (Nov. 11) at University Hall. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
