CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia will host an ASA/USA Softball Fastpitch National Coaches School January 27-29 in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom and Theatre Room on the Grounds of the University of Virginia. Featured among the presenters at the coaching school are UVa head softball coach Karen Johns and her coaching staff and USA Olympic Coach Mike Candrea.

In addition to Johns and Candrea, Ken Eriksen, the head coach at South Florida and Scot Thomas, the head coach at Virginia Tech, will present at the coaching school. Instruction begins on Friday evening (Jan. 27) at 7:00 p.m. with Johns and her staff conducting a session on the strategy of base running. Saturday’s session begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:30 p.m. Sunday’s session starts at 9:00 a.m. and wraps up at noon.

“We are very happy for the coaches in the state of Virginia and surrounding states to have the opportunity to learn from the some of the best coaches in the world. This is a wonderful opportunity to help the athletes and coaches rise to a new level in our sport,” said Johns.

For those interested, the cost of attending the ASA/USA Softball Fastpitch National Coaches is $150 per person. There is a limit of 300 attendees. To register, contact Andy Dooley at pvasa@verizon.net
