Virginia’s David Lewis won the pole vault title at the Fred Hardy Invitational held at the University of Richmond, vaulting a season-best 14′ 7.25″. Five Cavaliers took home runner-up finishes, including both horizontal jumpers Amber Reyes (triple jump) and Shadion Buckley (long jump). Reyes hit a 36′ 2.25″ (11.03m) and Buckley jumped 21′ 9.75″ (6.65m), which led a 2-4-7 finish for the Cavalier men.

In the long jump, Buckley edged teammate Robert Assibey, who jumped 20′ 8.75″ (6.32m) who took fourth, while Lewis hit a jump of 20′ 5″ (6.22m) en route to a seventh place finish. Meggie Scheulke also took home the silver with her high jump of 5′ 7″ (1.70m).

Jen Dolson also finished as runner-up, taking home those honors as part of a 2-4-9 finish for the Cavaliers in the 1500m with her 4:48.89. Suzanne Ginnow ran a 4:49.59 and Kristin Milot ran 4:56.40. On the men’s side, Alec Lorenzoni just edged Danny Howick 4:00.14 to 4:01.42 as the two finished sixth and seventh, respectively. The women’s short hurdlers also finished 6-7 as Keshia Ashe went 15.38 and Janine Holman ran 15.70. Ashe took home runner-up honors in the intermediates with her 1:03.05. Suzanne Brooks also scored for the Cavaliers, running a 2:22.34 in the 800m run.
