CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – – Virginia baseball players Pat McAnaney, Tim Henry and Greg Miclat have been selected to play in the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s All-Star Game on Sunday night at 7 p.m. at Alumni Field in Keene, New Hampshire. Patrick Wingfield played in the Valley League All-Star Game in early July.

McAnaney and Henry, who both play for the NECBL leading Newport Gulls are starters for the south division. McAnaney, a rising third-year left-handed pitcher from Syracuse, N.Y., was chosen as the starting pitcher having posted a 5-0 record with a 1.74 ERA in seven appearances and five starts. He has 47 strikeouts in 41.1 innings while holding opponents to a .160 batting average. Henry, a rising fourth year from Fairfield, Conn., is third on the team hitting .306 with 26 hits in 85 at-bats. He has started 24 of 26 games, while scoring 14 runs and adding four doubles, one triple and 11 RBI. Newport leads the league with a 22-9 record.

Tim Henry will start for the south division in the NECBL All-Star game.

Miclat, a rising sophomore from Concord, N.C., was chosen as the lone middle infielder substitute for the north division. Miclat is the second-leading hitter for the Keene Swamp Bats. He is hitting .313 with 26 hits in 83 at-bats along with 17 runs scored and seven RBI. He is 10-of-13 in stolen bases.

Wingfield, a rising junior from Winchester, Va.., played in the Valley League All-Star Game. He leads the Winchester Royals while hitting .342 with 16 RBI, 19 stolen bases and four home runs.

Several Cavaliers are playing in summer baseball leagues while Sean Doolittle is representing Virginia on the USA National Team. Doolittle is fifth on the team hitting .302 having started 10 of the 11 games for USA Baseball, which is 11-0 on the season. His lone miss as a starter came after attending the Brooks Wallace National Player of the Year Award ceremony. Doolittle had the game-winning hit in a 1-0 win over Chinese Taipei hours after getting off an airplane. He has 13 hits including one double and two home runs with 8 RBIs.
