Pinehurst, NC – Virginia senior golfer Leah Wigger won her first round match play contest against Michelle Jarman to move into the second round of the competition at the 104th North and Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, N.C.

Her UVa teammates, Lindsay Robinson and Carly Truitt, did not enjoy the same success. Robinson fell to Mandy Goins in a match that took 19 holes to complete and Kristin Ingram knocked out Truitt 2 and 1

Wigger downed Jarman 2 and 1 to set up an interesting second-round matchup. Wigger will face Jenny Suh in the second round Thursday morning. Suh is a rising senior at Alabama, the team the defeated Virginia in a playoff to earn the eighth and final berth from the NCAA East Regional to the NCAA Championships. They are scheduled to start their match at 9:14 a.m.

The third round of match play is also scheduled for Thursday. the event concludes Sunday.
