CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – – Virginia junior first baseman/ left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle capped off his summer season by helping Team USA capture its second straight FISU (International University Sports Federation) World Championship with an 18-9 win over Chinese Taipei at Latino Stadium in Havana, Cuba. Doolittle went 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI in the win.

Team USA finished its summer season 28-2-1 for a .919 winning percentage, which was the best-ever by a USA Baseball Collegiate Team. The tournament win was also the first-ever for a USA Baseball National Team in Cuba.

Doolittle, who spent most of the summer starting at first base for Team USA, batted .244 with four doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI this summer. He made one appearance on the mound, striking out four batters in two innings of work.
