CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – – Virginia Baseball head coach Brian O’Connor announced the teams for this week’s Orange-Blue Series to be held Oct. 12-14 at Davenport Field after a draft conducted Tuesday. Game times are 6 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 a.m. Admission is free to the public.

“Our guys have worked hard this fall,” O’Connor said. “The Orange-Blue series has become a big part of our fall workouts. The players are looking forward to competing in front of our fans and showcasing their hard-work over the last month.”

UVa assistant coach Kevin McMullan will serve as the manager for the Orange Team, while volunteer assistant coach Brian Anderson will serve as the manager for the Blue Team. Some local media talents will serve as guest coaches in a couple of games.

A total of 35 Cavaliers will participate in the Orange-Blue World Series. The Blue Team will be the designated home team for game one and the Orange Team will be the home team game two. Run differential will decide the home team for game three.

All three games of the Orange-Blue World Series will be seven (7) inning contests. The series will be a best-of-three championship. However, if one team loses the first two games, it may still win the championship by winning the final game by the run differential of the first two contests (If run differential combined is four runs for games one and two, then five runs wins the series). If Game three is rained out and the first two games are split, run differential will determine which of the two teams wins the championship. Each team is encouraged to score as many runs as possible.

Fans are encouraged to attend each day’s game. Virginia baseball items will be given away during each game. Autograph opportunities will be available after each game. If Thursday’s game is rained out, game one and two will be played on Friday beginning at 4 p.m.
