Wahoo Golfers Finish Seventh at Notre Dame

Notre Dame, IN – The Virginia men’s golf team matched its second round score with a 305 during the final 18 holes of play at Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic to place seventh in the 12-team field. The Cavaliers completed the 54-hole event at the Warren Golf Course at 25-over 909. UVa shot 299 during the first round.
Lamar ran away with the tournament title, winning by 29 strokes. The Cardinals finished at 13-over 860, 29 shots better than second-place Notre Dame. Despite shooting 5-over 75 during the final day, Lamar’s Justin Harding took medalist honors at 3-over 213.
Virginia was led by Daniel Kefale who shot 225 to place 17th. It was the second-best finish in the UVa sophomore’s career. Kefale also posted the Cavaliers’ best score during the final round, shooting 3-over 73.
The Cavaliers return to action Saturday when the begin play at the two-day Ridges Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
